Hello, Does anyone have a remastered Vinux or Grml live CD with software speech and a disk imaging program? Currently i do not have the ability to make one as my machines with Linux are not here. I'm looking for a replacement for Ghost, i need to take the contents of an ntfs partition, it's xp pro, and image it to a larger hard disk. I would have both drives connected master and slave and do it directly from the
Hi, Thanks. What i was refering to was a remastered grml disk where the software speech would come up automatically. As for imaging, i need to take a 40 gb drive set as master and image it to an 80 gb drive as slave, then take the 40 out, set the 80 to master, and boot it. Thanks. The standard grml CD comes with software speech. It doesn't load by default though. I'd be surprised if there are tools for reimaging an NTFS ppartition in linux because linux hasn't been able to write to NTFS partitions for very long. But you never know, I suppose. I've never tried anything like what you're describing except on dual boot machines. That's important because I was using grub as the boot loader. If you don't have to worry about the master boot record, you can use dd to image windows partitions. 'dd if=/dev/sda1 of=windows.img' makes an image of the disk and 'dd if=windows.img of=/dev/sda1' puts it back. But it would have to be the same size. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dave" <dave.mehler@gmail.com> To: "'Blind sysadmins list'" <blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: Friday, May 29, 2009 9:44 AM Subject: [Blind-sysadmins] grml or vinux and disk imaging live CD.
If anyone has an iso i'd appreciate it. Thanks. Dave.
