jfw with advanced active directory permissions, server 2003
Hello, I'm trying to modify special permissions in active directory. I've got a user, added to a group, go to properties of the group, add in the user, go to the advanced button, uncheck the inherit permissions button then i tab to the list of permissions that one can set. All i hear is something like allow this object and all child objects repeated, arrowing down repeats the same information, visually i've been told that arrowing from item to item changes the display as the items are arrowed over. Some urgency! Thanks. Dave.
Hi Dave: I don't use JAWS, but in Window-eyes I had the same entry in the list being read over and over again when I used an arrow key. Strange. I'd have a pair of eyes take a look at that list and see if the highlight is really moving as normal. Hi, The entry visually changes as the arrow goes over it. Did Window eyes work any better than jfw in this issue? Thanks. Hi, When you hear this list you are not listing the permissions (or at least I don't believe you are). I think you are in the list of actual users who are defined, you can go to the edit box on one of those users, which will open up a permissions entry box with the usual tick boxes. You can also add or remove specific user entries from this list. Hi, Well, actually i do go in to the permissions for the specific user, go to advanced button, and uncheck permission inheritance. When i then go to the special permissions all i hear is the allow option nothing for what the option is enabling. Thanks. Hi, Where are you doing this - from an XP workstation or on the server? When you here these messages, can you tab and do you get buttons such as add, remove, edit etc? As I say I still believe you are seeing the actual object the permission is applying to (i.e, the specific users/group entries), and not the specific permissions themselves. These work fine in JFW on my XP system with 2003 active directory admin tools installed, against a 2008 domain. Thanks. Andrew. -----Original Message----- From: blind-sysadmins-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org on behalf of Dave Sent: Wed 29/10/2008 15:04 To: 'Andrew Hodgson'; 'blind-sysadmins' Subject: Re: [Blind-sysadmins] jfw with advanced active directorypermissions, server 2003 Hi, Well, actually i do go in to the permissions for the specific user, go to advanced button, and uncheck permission inheritance.
