Hello, A while back i read something about opensuse being accessible during the install. With a little time i decided to google this, there is an elusive podcast on the subject that i'm trying to get a listen to. I was wanting to know opensuse's current status and if anyone was using it and how it stacked up to other linux distros? Thanks. Dave.
Hi, If OpenSuse is anything like what Centos did with RHEL, then the installer would be accessible since the installer for Suse was always accessible. We used to be a Suse shop here before it got really expensive, then we switched to RedHat and now we switched to Ubuntu. RedHat didn't have much in the way of accessible installs on RHEL4/5, and the text install used to miss out a lot of options. At the boot prompt you could always enter in special commands to redirect the installer to an SSH session, enable a Braille terminal, or send the output to a serial console. The installer used Yast, and all the options that were there in the graphical install were there in the console install - though the windowed layout of the console could be slightly tricky to start with. I installed many systems by redirecting the output to an SSH session and doing the install from my workstation. Of course this was all before we had access to the Linux GUI, the last version of Suse I used was SLES9. Hope this helps, Andrew. -----Original Message----- From: blind-sysadmins-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org [mailto:blind-sysadmins-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] On Behalf Of Dave Sent: 19 June 2009 04:05 To: 'Blind sysadmins list' Subject: [Blind-sysadmins] opensuse?
