CHM file links in Server 2016 & 2019
As many of you may know, we work closely with Duxbury Systems and their Braille software. We are also involved in authoring the Help system, which obviously must be fully accessible. For that we use Flare from MadCap software, which allows output in various formats in addition to regular *.chm. In the course of checking the network version with Windows Server 2019, we discovered that a link to download a required network component, a small *.msi file, would fail. However, the link works perfectly well in Windows 10. Moreover, in Server 2019, if one copies the link from the Help file, and pastes it into IE11, it also works. Tried the same link in Server 2016, and again failed from the Help file, but worked when copied and pasted into IE11. Next was to test other downloads, which did NOT have a dot msi extension from the exact same location, but including a zipped file of the worrisome msi. All but the zip file downloaded. Illustrated the problem on-line with the Helpfile developer. They are baffled. Does anyone know if these versions of Server have some inbuilt download file limitations?
