I'm on a MCITPEDA course at the moment. I've been given a 2K8 R2 vmx and a Win 7 Ultimate vmx. When I load the 2K8 in Workstation it's booting but I'm not getting any sound output. I fired up narrator and got nothing. I've confirmed that it has booted by one of my class mates and instructor. Anyone seen this before? The obvious soundcard drivers not installed, it appears to be seeing the host machines soundcard. I didn't config this. Also when I tryed to load the Win 7 vmx they gave me I got, "Not supported by Guest Operating System", with ahelpful OK button. I've never ran into that and I run at home VM's all the time. One suggestion was to try MS Virtual PC 2K. So tonight I downloaded that and grabbed the VHD with 2K8 and Windows 7. Created a Virtual PC and pointed it to the VHD. I can't work out how to get the Virtual PC to capture input like with Workstation. I put it in full-screen mode thinking that might do it, but nope. Does Virtual PC even work for us? Deeply appreciate any replys. I will be meeting with their IT guy tomorrow but I've already missed one lab. Now the instructor did say I can do those labs tomorrow but this means already works mounting on me. So if I can get this sorted ASAP it would take some of the heat off. Not something I really want to be messing around with on a Fast Track Cert course. Also it's hard to concrete soem of the Windows 7 deployment stuff in without actually being able to mess around with DISIM, Image X, Sys Prep etc. Cheers all! Barry.
