Hello, A little while back maybe early last year or so there was talk about an accessible multimeter. I now have the need to get one and by the end of today the means to do so. My primary use for this device as of now, although this might expand, in the future, is as a computer power supply tester, a PSU. I lost one for sure last week and have doubts about the reliability and functionality of another, and i've got two others I have no clue on. If anyone has any recommendations i'd appreciate knowing about them. Also, I am by no means an electricity guru so if those with experience could talk things with me I'd appreciate it. Thanks. Dave.
I use TOPHAND LK-10 talking multimeter. It's a basic one, AC, DC, resistance, OHMS but serves my needs here and there. I have a Redfish Instruments iDVM 510 It works fine for my needs. Hi Just testing with a meter's potentially going to give you a false picture of what's going on. You need something that will put a load on the PSU, not just something that will measure the voltages. Honestly if the only use you have for it is to test PSU's I'd just buy a spare PSU and connect it to the system you're testing. If it starts working properly its previous PSU is faulty. Cheers, Ben. Hi David You might be referring to this Bluetooth multi meter which can be paired with either an Android or i phone to enable it to become reasonably accessible. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01CCUACDA/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I have not used mine for a while, but it does allow you to measure voltage, resistance and continuity quite easily. the app for i phone had quite a few unlabelled buttons, but as is usually the case with these apps after a bit of playing around you can figure out what they do and label them yourself. The meter has a number of buttons which I have forgotten, but the type of measurement is selected by a rotary dial. I think the off position was at 9 o clock and as you rotate it clockwise to the final position at 3 o clock it selects the different functions. You know which one has been chosen as the app will display volts, milli volts, ohms etc so you know where you are.
