Hi. I recently came across emulators for old hardware such as IBM 360/370/390, and digital equipment's PDP line. Does anyone on this list have any documentation laying around for this old hardware, and for the following operating systems? Any OS for IBM 360/370/390, especially VMS or TOS TOPS10 on the PDP 10 or any of the different operating systems that can run on the pdp 8, pdp11, PDP 15 or VAX? RFB&D used to have a lot of manuals on tape, but I guess it is all gone now. Many thanks Phil
Phillip, While I don't have any documentation, the operating systems that ran on the PDP 11/70 was RSTS and RT 11 with VMS running on the VAX 11/750, 11/760, 11/780. I hope the information can get you on your way. I did my college work on the PDP 11/70 and the Vax line of computers. Hi. Many thanks for this info. Armed with this knowledge, I was able to locate an archive of manuals for a huge number of systems. They have over 28000 manuals available in .pdf format. I am in the process of downloading all the manuals for the PDP 8, 10, 11, 15, 20, and VAX machines. Again, thanks Phil -----Original Message----- From: Blind-sysadmins [mailto:blind-sysadmins-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] On Behalf Of Greg B. Hi. Very Cool. If you ever decide you want to make room, I would be interested in your pdp11. Or if you ever want to get it out and running, there is a wealth of documentation and software available on the net. I just downloaded over 7 GB, including a number of operating systems for it. Windows has gotten rather boring, so I am delving into the older operating systems once again. I’m so busy with the newer *nix and networking operating systems that I don’t have the time I used to to play with the old stuff. In house I have a PDP11, an old set of Sparcs including a 20, a pile of 10s and a 2, an SGI O2, SGI Indigo 2 and Dec Alpha. I think Solaris X is the latest I have and Irix 4 maybe something in that range. I love the hold hardware though. Some of it is built so beautifully. The power they squeezed out was amazing, much more efficient than the current crop of PCs. But alas they don’t pay the bills like JunOS and IOS / IOS XR does.:) On Aug 25, 2014, at 10:33 AM, Philip Hall <p.hall.eml1@gmail.com> wrote:
