Hi. Well. Had to use ms access, and then found a article, and then had to export to sql server, as the access tables, when I imported and created the tables, and use the csv import, then was able to create a dsn file, for access, then was able to import to the sql database. But now, for some stupid reason. It is not showing me the data, just null collumsn. Why? Might have to ring my lectuer tomorrow. Okay, will try to import via the csv and then the sql database and see if that imports it. Thanks. Getting there. But a pain. Marvin.
Surely these questions should be asked of your tutor and their helpers? It all seems as though we get to suffer your run-on sentences and internal thought dialog as it chugs along on just about every blindness list there is. Please never directly email me again on my home addresses, i'll only respond to any of your email if it is an academy related inquiry on an academy email address. Yeah guys if you think i'm beeing harsh just ask half the IT community how many thousands of hours Marvin's eaten through with badly expressed emails and unformed questions. Marvin is bad news and I advise you all to stay well clear. He has learnt that if he continues to ask questions people will break down and answer them in an attempt to quieten him down. Wordpress and vip-l people ignore his emails now rather than get stuck in circular dialogs. If you intend assisting Marvin understanding what an incredible time commitment at the outset this is will set you in good stead. I'm not particularly bothered if list admin is unhappy with this message i'll take whatever ramifications it results in in the hopes that others can avoid the chalenges of doing support for Marvin. I've seen patient IT friends reduced to raging messes after dealings with him. Regards, Kerry. On 23/07/2015 7:34 PM, Marvin Hunkin wrote:

Hi, Thanks for the information. I am not a big user of these lists so haven't seen this before. I would suggest that when dealing with people on the lists we keep the discussion on list at all times (i.e, don't email people personally unless they email you first), and wherever possible keep the questions to the point, go through the steps you took if you had an issue and remember this list isn't designed to be a training resource. Regarding the SQL issue I had already got to the point where I didn't think I could provide anymore help on this. Hi, Sorry but I am really confused, your message doesn't really say what you tried to do, the tools you used or the steps you took in order. If you are dealing with DSNs I don't know what tools you used since the SQL import/export tool doesn't need these. If we are talking about a small amount of data could you not just enter this in manually? I know it is a pane but honestly I don't think I can give you anymore help on this without walking you through it step by step. You should also know that importing CSV files can be problematic because the data needs to be in just the right format if you are for example importing columns of type int or decimal due to there being no data type on the source file. Thanks and good luck, Andrew. ________________________________________ From: Blind-sysadmins [blind-sysadmins-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] on behalf of Marvin Hunkin [startrekcafe@gmail.com] Sent: 23 July 2015 12:34 To: blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org Subject: [Blind-sysadmins] importing csv files Hi.
