self-hosting a vaultwarden instance?
Hello, Has anyone self-hosted a vaultwarden instance so they can utilize there own private password manager perhaps for example-sake on a Raspberry Pi? If so, how did you get it set up? I've read many howtos on it some say one thing others another. What were your impressions of the setup process and how do you like self-hosting a password manager? Thanks. Hi. I'm a bit cautious of using Vaultwarden since it’s a re-engineering of Bitwarden. That is, it uses the Bitwarden APIs so you can use the Bitwarden clients to interact with it. There is a Bitwarden Unified docker image which is currently in beta. When that goes GA I will probably self-host again. I have tried running this on my Synology through Docker-Compose and it works well. I'm currently paying for the single user version of Bitwarden Cloud but want to self-host a family instance. On a slightly different tack I've moved all my self hosting projects to Cloudron, which is a nice self-hosting Docker system that allows you to run various apps on a host. They take care of the updates and self-hosting several apps on a single instance. The only thing I haven't moved over now are these lists and its unlikely to happen for several reasons. Check them out at www.cloudron.io, I am very impressed. They have Vaultwarden on there apps list, but they have stated when the official Bitwarden Unified comes out of beta they will move to that instead. Thanks. Greetings, I actually use the free version at my place of employment with over 1200 users. Over all it works great and I have no complaints. It is using the docker instance. Faily straight forward. We also push the extension out via GPO to staff so that they can save their passwords right from the browser. I wish we would pay for it so we could have the teams option. Hello, Thank you for your reply. Can you give me your notes on Vaultwarden and Docker setup? I've read a lot of different articles none of which are working for me. Thanks. Dave. On 8/14/2024 8:13 AM, Billy Irwin via Blind-sysadmins wrote:

Hi Dave, I don’t really have any notes on installing it. I just went through the process per their documentation. Do you have a VM that you are running it on? What OS are you using? What issues are you having when trying to install it?
