Hi Listers, I have a few questions regarding skype for business, help would be much appreciated please. Which screenreader is recommended for use with skype for business? is it possible to continue a conversation that has already started? I find that I have to manually find the person I want to chat to and choose send IM. Choosing continue conversation, does not open the conversation window. Is there a keyboard shortcut to answer calls? Also, is it possible to have conversation windows open up for each chat? Any help would be much appreciated. Kind Regards
Hello: What version of Skype for Business are you using? 2013 or 2016? I'm using Skype for Business 2016 with JAWS 18 with no major issues, I get things read back to me while attending meetings that I shouldn't be hearing but I'm able to navigate through everything on my own. You can continue a conversation in SFB 20176 by going to the list of conversations using ctrl+2, selecting the conversation and choosing continue conversation from the context menu. Here's a list of keyboard shortcuts: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Keyboard-shortcuts-for-Skype-for-Bu... If you still need assistance, I'd email edad@microsoft.com and report your issues to the Enterprise Disability Answer Desk, and they can find you further assistance. Hi there, Thanks to all those who have replied to my topic, I really appreciate the info, resources and keyboard shortcuts. I will definitely have a look at them. I forgot to mention the version I am using, which is 2013 I shall ask to be upgraded to 2016 instead if it helps make the app easier to use. @Ryan, when you select to continue the conversation, is the IM window supposed to open? Or do I have to get the IM window in focus somehow? Again, thanks for all the replies. I have used Lync for some time now at work. Think it is the one that came with Office 2013. It is very accessible and easy to use. I use the JAWS screenreader though I imagine any decent screenreader will handle Lync. I have been told that Skype for Business that comes with O365 isn't quite as accessible but I haven't tried that out myself. Short cut for answering new conversation requests is Windows key with A. I often have 5 or 6 conversation windows open at a time and it is easy to move between them and you can see in the task bar the title of each conversation. It is simple to search for work colleagues as it is integrated with Outlook. You can just select a name either from the contacts you have already saved or by finding them in the Outlook address book from within Lync and then just right clicking and choosing the relevant option from the context menu that appears. It really is a pleasure to use but unfortunately our company have just decided to move to something called Circuit from a company called Unify. God knows why, it is probably cheaper. Circuit certainly isn't as accessible so I'm not too pleased about the proposed move away from Lync. The laptop that I use at work, running Windows 10, has Skype for Business 2016 installed. Unfortunately, it often reports that the network is "unavailable" (even though the network is obviously fully functional), and consequently fails to connect to the Office365 server. I don't know what is causing this result or how to fix it. I doubt that it's accessibility-related. I don't have packet analysis tools installed, and I'm no expert on the relevant log files.
