OpenSuse 11.2 server
Hello, Is anyone running OpenSuse 11.2 in either a virtual machine or on a physical box? If so, please contact me. I've got to use it to start a project and am finding it unmanageable. Thanks. Dave.
Hi, What problems are you having? I used to use SLES9 and SLES10, but we migrated to RHEL5 for application support, then as more migrated to Windows, I migrated the web servers to the free Ubuntu. Hello, My issue is getting OpenSuse 11.2 server independently installed. I've read about the accessible boot loader proceeded by a beep, which works, but then no speech or i can't get it to go to a serial terminal. Also, i've learned that sshd was disabled by default in 11.2, i need to know how to turn that back on? Thanks. Dave. On 12/11/09, Andrew Hodgson <Andrew.Hodgson@allpay.net> wrote:

Hi, IME Suse has a Curses based installer which is accessible by entering in the boot parameters, this starts an SSHD and you can install it via this. I used this in SLES9 and SLES10. I'd suggest contacting Marco Scambrax in Novell. He is hte accessibility guy for OpenSuSE. I'm afraid you'll have to do some googling to get his address. Alternatively, subscribe to the SBL list on lists.novell.org... again, I'm guessing the address. I haven't accessed any of those resources in a long time. Hi, These were the boot parameters I used on SLES10 at the beginning of 2007: install HostIP: 10.1.1.1 gateway: 10.1.1.254 Textmode: 1 UseSSH: 1 SSHPassword: test When you SSH into the server using root/test, you get into a text installer. It is a bit difficult to browse the Ncurses Yast interface with Putty, but it is doable, and it is certainly better than the RHEL4/5 text installation. Thanks.
