Hi,
Actually there are many different controllers that Dell put into their servers, depending on what you wanted at the time.
It is possible that you could disable this in the BIOS, even with the add-on controller, by changing the disk mode from RAID to SATA, though I have tended to only do this with higher end Poweredge models.
On another tack, why are you trying to get rid of the RAID?

Hi Andrew, I believe the Dell has their own branded 5i/R RAID controller
installed. It is an exspansion slot on the motherboard, not intergral to
the motherboard.
