Hello, Does anyone have experiences with alternative router firmwares? I've got an Asus RT-N66U and am wanting to put something other than stock or as it stands now the merlin firmware on it. I'm not liking the accessibility. OpenWRT had me until I saw that it's 2.4ghz was weak and 5ghz was unrecognized, for me that kind of defeats the purpose. I suppose my choices are down to Tomato USB or DD-WRT, both of which are supported by my device, but the DD-WRT installation fills me with apprehension. If anyone has experience with either Tomato USB or dd-wrt or has another suggestion please let me know. Thanks. Dave.
HI. I'd try Tomato. Not used dd-wrt. Tomato's webgui was pretty accessible on the version I used a while ago and nice range of features. Regards Chris Turner On 03/04/2017 20:33, David Mehler wrote:

Hi. TO be honest I didn't do the install, just set a few of these up. They were pretty old Linksys 54G models. I don't use one myself as I'm on ADSL and don't want another box in the chain. Cheers. Chris On 04/04/2017 02:13, David Mehler wrote:

Hi David, I have dd-wrt running on an asus rt-n16 for years. works good and the accessibility of the web ui is very good. i was forced though to downgrade from the mega to the minimal flavour though because maybe of some issues with the flash chip. though i haven't looked into this yet. it works now again and does so for around 7 years or so. the install was pretty easy and the dd-wrt wiki was pretty well written. greetings, Simon Mit freundlichen Grüßen Simon Eigeldinger Informatik Nebengebäude 1, OG1 ------------------------- Stadt Hohenems Kaiser-Franz-Josef-Straße 4 6845 Hohenems Österreich Tel.: +43 5576 7101-1143 Fax: +43 5576 7101-1149 E-Mail: simon.eigeldinger@hohenems.at Web: www.hohenems.at Diese Nachricht und allfällige angehängte Dokumente sind vertraulich und nur für den/die Adressaten bestimmt. -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- Von: Blind-sysadmins [mailto:blind-sysadmins-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] Im Auftrag von David Mehler Gesendet: Montag, 03. Hello, Have you tried taking a router from merlin to dd-wrt? I've got my Asus RT-N66u whichis rev b1. It was running stock, then I took it to merlin, not an issue. Unfortunately, merlin though it works, does not have two capabilities I am looking for, one being captive portal. I'm going to have to go dd-wrt. I was wondering if you've tried a merlin to dd-wrt migration? The docs on the router say only tomato to dd-wrt not merlin. I'm hoping I can just flash the .trx file of dd-wrt. Any impressions? Thanks. Dave. On 4/9/17, Isaac <bigikemusic@gmail.com> wrote:
