Hi all, Here we're moving towards an even more agile working environment than we already had, giving most users chromebooks and working with windows applications through a citrix VDI environment. I've thought about trying the chromebook for a while now but am not sure how I could actually work in the citrix environment. I'm assuming NVDA would work because I think citrix has audio support, my only problem would be audio latency, and possibly an issue over JAWS licencing. I'm the only person who uses it so I got a JAWS professional licence, but we have a great number of VDI session hosts, so I'm not sure if it would get confused. Has anybody had any experience of working this way? Greetings, Yes, you can use JAWS in a VDI environment. It is slow at times responding depending on network latency. It really doesn't matter what the underlying host is. So, using a Chrome Book connecting to a Windows host via Citrix will work but honestly isn't fun. In my opinion I think you will see a reverse trend for reasons such as this. Billy L. Hi, Yes it will work but you would be relying on the audio in JFW to get the audio from your VDI session to the Chromebook. It would be a latency issue as well, and I don't think you would get Braille in that configuration. In terms of the VDI host you would probably need a static host though to be honest most people I worked in with IT in this setup used a static host as they had lots of extra software on their machines. Hi, Yes it will work but you would be relying on the audio in JFW to get the audio from your VDI session to the Chromebook. It would be a latency issue as well, and I don't think you would get Braille in that configuration. In terms of the VDI host you would probably need a static host though to be honest most people I worked in with IT in this setup used a static host as they had lots of extra software on their machines. Hi, There is an RDP client on the Chromebook and you can access this with Chromevox though I don't know if you connect to the RDP session whether Chromevox would get in the way. I have seen this discussed elsewhere as Chromebooks are fairly cheap and can be used a s thin clients but would need to be locked down as aren't meant for business use really. Yes, you can use JAWS in a VDI environment. It is slow at times responding depending on network latency. It really doesn't matter what the underlying host is. So, using a Chrome Book connecting to a Windows host via Citrix will work but honestly isn't fun. In my opinion I think you will see a reverse trend for reasons such as this.

Yes, you can use JAWS in a VDI environment. It is slow at times responding depending on network latency. It really doesn't matter what the underlying host is. So, using a Chrome Book connecting to a Windows host via Citrix will work but honestly isn't fun. In my opinion I think you will see a reverse trend for reasons such as this.

Hi, I'd do the same in your shoes. It will be interesting to see if the developers and other IT professionals in your org go down this route as resetting the images each time you log in is a real pane as lots of settings get lost. Greetings, Yes, you can use JAWS in a VDI environment. It is slow at times responding depending on network latency. It really doesn't matter what the underlying host is. So, using a Chrome Book connecting to a Windows host via Citrix will work but honestly isn't fun. In my opinion I think you will see a reverse trend for reasons such as this. Billy L. I also meant to mention that you can license the VDI, but licensing on more than what you are allowed will cause you problems. VFO told me that so long as it is for you only you can keep requesting them to reset your limit. I do find using their RDPmethod works really well. This is more for things like Terminal Services which has been renamed Remote Desktop Services. Billy L.
