Anybody know of a group for blind makers? Any interest in starting such a group if no such group currently exists? I am currently working on a project to create an accessible D&D module. The learning experience has been absolutely fascinating. I am creating a dungeon map by coding it by hand in postscript. I plan on converting the postscript to a format for a 3D printer. Once i learn how to do all this efficiently, I figure I can start making 3D maps for conventions and the like. I am going to help organize a convention for guide dog users in San Francisco in 2022. I am hoping to supply a 3D map of the hotel floor plan. I'd also like to get into home automation, robotics, etc. I'm already into woodworking. Hey John, I don’t have exactly what you’re looking for, but I can provide a couple of things. First, for generating 3-D print instructions, I would suggest looking at a program called openscad. I suspect it will do a lot of what you were trying to do in postscript, but with an environment much more suited to the purpose. For woodworking, I can recommend woodworking for the blind, which is a website and forum for blind people talking all about woodworking. http://www.ww4b.org/ Finally, there is a Facebook group dedicated to 3-D printing for blind folks. https://www.facebook.com/groups/blv3p/?ref=share I hope this can help get you started. Yeah, I know about Openscad. The reason I'm drawing in postscript is that it makes it much easier to get sighted assistance. I have been simply converting the postscript to jpeg and sending it as an email attachment to helpers who tell me if it looks right or not. If I wrote it in Openscad, I'd have to get help from someone who has Openscad. Plus, I'll probably need a version that can be printed on a regular printer. Sighted people might think a 3D map is cool but they aren't going to want to mess around with finding a 3D printer and paying for a 3D print out. So what I've been doing is writing in postscript and then importing my drawing into Openscad.
