every vps provider i have used seems to have a crapy web based vnc based console that consoel dont work at all i allways get: canvas not supported tryed both chrome and firefox what the h.. is this canvas annyway?

I've had good success with linode.com. You can connect to the console of your instance via an ssh session with one of their servers, using Lish (Linode Interactive Shell). Also, they have a management API for which there's a command line interface available. Thus, if you don't like working with their Web interface, you can largely avoid it. Hello Jason, I use linode. I'm not really liking the new web interface, I can use ssh as well as lish but sometimes I've got to do somethings via the web interface.
