Just wanted to get thoughts from folks around here. I have to use both Mac and PC on a daily basis for my current job. My set up right now has been a KVM which I can switch quickly from my windows machine to my Mac and vice versa. My employer is going to be upgrading me but I have to decide which way I should go. Should I stay with a KVM with updated computers or get some sort of VM either on the Mac or my windows machine. I have heard good things about using fusion for windows running on the Mac. I tried using Parallels but didn't get very far Herman

in my opinion it depends on what tasks are you doing on these computers, physical machine will be always better option than vm when talking about responsiveness. Personaly, i would stay with KVM. -- Michał Dziwisz michal@dziwisz.net
I am doing Active directory things, RDP for certain situations and other basic funtions in windows. On the MacI am exploring MUNKI, as well as doing things in terminal. I'm leaning towards two separate computers and staying with the KVM. -----Original Message----- From: Blind-sysadmins [mailto:blind-sysadmins-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] On Behalf Of Michal Dziwisz Sent: Tuesday, November 10, 2015 9:57 AM To: Blind sysadmins list <blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Subject: Re: [Blind-sysadmins] Mac and PC VM/KVM W temacie "[Blind-sysadmins] Mac and PC VM/KVM" Fermin, German pisze:

So myself, I would go with a both solution. Use a KVM setup for your desk and set up fusion on a Mac Laptop for portable use. With your requirements though you could definitely get away with using fusion, especially the latest versions. Fusion performs very well on the Mac now, is totally accessible and supports all sorts of operating system options, not just Windows. I run Juniper virtual firewalls and routers at the same time I run Windows and Ubuntu all with connected interfaces (virtual of course) and under a single laptop host. Depends on your work style and what you prefer. I prefer being mobile and able to work from anywhere but the stationary desktop solution will give you the most horsepower although it doesn’t sound like you need all that much as you use things now. Just my $.02
