Yeah, I don't find the namecheap site particularly accessible. I use firefox with orca so my results may be a little different than others using jaws. I've been to dyndns.com, ezdns.com, zoneedit.com, and namecheap.com. None of them are really good but I'd say dyndns was the best up to the point where they had a captcha to create an account. If it hadn't been for that captcha, I probably would have just gone with dyndns.com. There is a linux package to talk to dyndns. It looks as if dynamic dns is easy enough to configure anyway so it probably doesn't matter much which registrar I go with in terms of configuring my linux box. Hi, www.dyndns.com are good but not the cheapest, I use their nameservers as they have a universal dynamic DNS service that really works. Gandi are the company I use for domain registration, very cheap (billed in Euros). I tried dyndns.com but it has a captcha to create an account. It did seem pretty good up to that point. Better than goodaddy and namesecure. I have johnheim.net on godaddy and johnheim.com on namesecure. I used different registrars just to see if one was more accessible than the other. I've managed to muddle through on both of them. So in your experience, dyndns.com doesn't t usually ask for a captcha once you have created an account? I'm guessing that like a lot of sites, once you create an account, you don't have to do the captcha again. I should have tried to see if web vissum could have solved the captcha. I'm a little disappointed that none of these sites have allowed you to bypass the captcha with a private key. Generating certs is part of what they do, after all. I guess the problem would be that you'd need a private key from somewhere else to prove that you are a human to them. It would be like saying "Go out and get part of your services somewhere else and then come back here." But they could recognize private keys from MIT or cacert.org without creating a conflict of interests. You know, it occurs to me that I have accounts on both godaddy and namesecure and as far as I know, they do not offer a private key sign-in option. I know both of those companies sell server certificates but I'm not sure they sell private certs. Even so, it seems odd. Once you create an account, they could let you generate a public/private key pair on their system and use that to log in from then on. On 09/05/13 08:40, Matthew White wrote:

I don't know of any registrars that allow private key logins. I was just saying that I am surprised they don't since most domain name registrars also sell certificates. So they'd already have most of the infrastructure needed to allow pk sign ins. The only place that I know of that allows pk sign in is cacert.org. But providing public/private keys is part of what they do so it would be quite ironic if they didn't allow pk sign in. Hi, Let's face it, most registrars are in it to make a quick buck, and that probably means not providing the support required to support login by certificate. Cacert is quite different both in the way it operates and its ethos, so I am not surprised to see certificate logins available. Whilst you may need a captcha to sign up with dyndns.com, I can assure you you don't need one after this. I have used them for a long time also and never have had to enter in a captcha on their site.

Neither one has great accessibility but they don't offer dynamic dns either.

Hi,
www.dyndns.com are good but not the cheapest, I use their nameservers as they have a universal dynamic DNS service that really works. Gandi are the company I use for domain registration, very cheap (billed in Euros).

Hello, I like the idea of a public/private key sign in setup. What registrar does this? Thanks. Dave. On 9/5/13, John G. Heim <jheim@math.wisc.edu> wrote:
So in your experience, dyndns.com doesn't t usually ask for a captcha once you have created an account? I'm guessing that like a lot of sites, once you create an account, you don't have to do the captcha again. I should have tried to see if web vissum could have solved the captcha.
I'm a little disappointed that none of these sites have allowed you to bypass the captcha with a private key. Generating certs is part of what they do, after all. I guess the problem would be that you'd need a private key from somewhere else to prove that you are a human to them. It would be like saying "Go out and get part of your services somewhere else and then come back here." We have used Fat Cow. They have a .CA and a .COM domain. I don't know if they also provide more international hosting services. -----Original Message----- From: Blind-sysadmins [mailto:blind-sysadmins-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] On Behalf Of John G.
