Anyone taken an online exam with Pearson Vue?

HI all. Seeing if this gets through. Has anyone taken an exam online with Pearson Vue? I gather they need to have a camera on, so they can see the room. This shouldn't be a problem. How did accommodations work out? If this is possible at all, that is. I would hope we can take exams online, get extra time and use our screenreaders. I'm looking to take the Comptia Security Plus exam. If anyone else has done, is there much visual content? The practise questions I'm using have the odd diagram but everything is multiple choice. Thanks. Chris.

Hi. Its getting through and I think I've answered this question on the list before. The accommodations for the exam depend on the partner. So if you're taking the Microsoft exams they will work with Jaws but Cisco don't support it and not sure about Comptia. You have to go through an approval process with Pearson and this seems to be very hit and miss at the moment. For example I'm trying to renew my accommodations but they keep ignoring me and have told me it will take longer to come back due to a ransomware attack at their end. I need to get back onto them about this. My recommendation would be to try and talk to someone at Comptia or see what is available on their website as for example on the Microsoft website they state that Jaws is supported and give a practice test. In the case of the Microsoft exams images are described. Thanks. Andrew. -----Original Message----- From: Chris Turner via Blind-sysadmins <blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: 27 May 2025 11:45 To: blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org Cc: ultimatethesecond@googlemail.com Subject: [Blind-sysadmins] Anyone taken an online exam with Pearson Vue? Hi Chris, I took the Security+ course about 6 years or so ago. At that time there wasn't really anything visual on the exam. The course at that time was more theory based. A couple of years ago, I was asked to assist my wife who is a TVI on an accessibility project for a class she was teaching for staff for her agency. Pearson participated in a couple of the calls. The person from Pearson was visually impaired. He shared that Pearson had come a long way in this arena. I will see if I can find his contact info and pass it along. Like Andrew suggested, I think asking for a demo test is not a bad idea. I too will have to be looking back down this road soon myself as I am going back to get my B.S. in I.T. A lot of my college courses I believe also use Pearson. If I locate the info, I will pass it along. Kindest Regards, Billy L. Each exam is handled differently. AWS exams use the AWS SkillBuilder ID, and the process is pretty automated. What tripped me up is that you unlock the exam in some way on the site before the Pearson people can schedule it. Using "Modified Check-In", which they should offer given that you're using a screen reader or similar, will bypass the need to take pictures of your workspace. You'll still neede a working camera and all that, but it makes things easier. Allocate a lot of time to work with whoever for accommodations, some of mine were non-standard and this took extra time. This is all up-to-date as of 6 months ago. Chris On Tue, May 27, 2025 at 12:03:32PM +0000, Billy Irwin via Blind-sysadmins wrote:
