Hi,
If you extract the contents of an XP disk to a writable location, you
can add a "winnt.sif" file to the /i386 folder to make it unattended.
I have provided mine below. Copy everything between the ** lines into
notepad and save it as winnt.sif making sure to select all files in
the type dropdown:
**begin winnt.sif file**
;SetupMgrTag
[Data]
AutoPartition=1
MsDosInitiated="0"
UnattendedInstall="Yes"
AutomaticUpdates=yes
[Unattended]
UnattendMode=FullUnattended
OemSkipEula=Yes
OemPreinstall=No
TargetPath=\WINDOWS
DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore
NonDriverSigningPolicy=Ignore
UnattendSwitch="yes"
KeyboardLayout="United Kingdom"
[GuiUnattended]
AdminPassword="letmein"
EncryptedAdminPassword=NO
AutoLogon=Yes
AutoLogonCount=1
OEMSkipRegional=1
TimeZone=85
OemSkipWelcome=1
[UserData]
ProductKey=ReplaceWithYourKey
FullName="Personal"
OrgName="Personal"
ComputerName=*
[RegionalSettings]
LanguageGroup=1
Language=00000809
[Identification]
JoinWorkgroup=WORKGROUP
[Networking]
InstallDefaultComponents=Yes
**end winnt.sif**
You will need to change the product key value to contain your key &
you may wish to change the admin password and keyboard layout values.
Note that the partition screen of setup will not be automated using
this file as I considder this to be bad practice, especially if you
intend to use the disk on multiple systems.
Assuming that you have one partition, the key sequence to delete it,
create a partition using the unpartitioned space & start a quick NTFS
format is d, l, enter, up, up and enter.
Once you have added this file to the /i386 directory you will need to
use something like nLite to make the ISO and burn it to CD as a copy &
paste type burn won't work.
If you are struggling to follow these instructions then Winstaller may
be the best option for you.
Cheers,
Ben.
