Hello, I'm running a Windows 2012r2 server instance through vultr. I've connected to it via my win10 remote desktop and have enabled audio. I then pulled up narrator and realized it was a little laggy. I thought it was just narrator so I copied NVDA 2019.3 over to the vps and installed and configured it. The lag still remains, and it's also giving me a little bit of audio breakup, not to make the vps unusable neither issue renders it unusable, but it really is quite annoying when trying to set up things. I was wondering if there are any local (read host machine), or rdp, or server vps settings I could change to better optimize things? If it matters I'm totally screen reader dependent, I don't use a monitor except in emergencies so can I tune back the video and give higher priority to audio? Suggestions welcome. Thanks. Dave.
This is an issue with audio redirection. I'd use Narrator only long enough to get something else set up such as NVDA with NVDA Remote. Chris On Fri, Mar 20, 2020 at 01:28:03PM -0400, David Mehler wrote:

Hi David, I found that using JAWS with remote is much more reliable for me. Yes, it is too expensive. You do have to have the remote endorsement. It doesn't relay audio like the others rather it sends the text back to your local instance. Curious question though... Why use Server 2012 now? Hi Simon, Very true. If I remember right though you can only be connected to one machine at a time which for me would never work. Hello, Thanks everyone for your replies. I do have NVDA now installed on the vps, it's still a little laggy but not as bad as narrator was. My choices sound like jaws with remote, (not in my budget), or NVDA remote, which I haven't set up in years, is it difficult? Billy, you asked me why server 2012, well the quick answer is I wasn't sure if I could even get audio and speech going on it so I just grabbed the first one on the list. The vultr guy's do have a server 2016 which I might nuke my current instance and spin one of those up. The other reason is my MCSE I'm sure which has expired was in the 03 days so I thought 12 was closer than 16 and would fair more with what I know. My goal is to host multiple virtual web sites and maybe an asterisk server on it. Thanks. Dave. On 3/20/20, Simon Eigeldinger <simon.eigeldinger@vol.at> wrote:

Hi, NVDA Remote is pretty easy to configure. Get the addon from www.nvdaremote.com. install it on both versions of nvda. local: select from the nvda menu: tools/remote/connect leave client selected in the first set of radio buttons. then let control another computer be checked. in the host edit box enter nvdaremote.com. this is the relay server if you can't make a direct connection and do port forwarding. in the key edit box enter something or let it generate something for you. then hit ok. remote: select from the nvda menu: tools/remote/connect leave client selected in the first set of radio buttons. then select allow this computer to be controlled. in the host edit box enter nvdaremote.com. this is the relay server if you can't make a direct connection and do port forwarding. in the key edit box enter the same key as above. then hit ok. You should be set up. There is also documentation with the addon. Greetings, Simon Am 22.03.2020 um 22:59 schrieb David Mehler:
