Question about using JFW with putty
Hi, so here's the issue. I use putty as an SSH client. In order for me to hear the output I have to do an insert s to speak all. This works but when the screen fills it rereads the entire screen over and over again for each new line added. What's up with that? Secure CRT has a script written that gets around this. What can I do to use putty or is there a better (preferably free) client to use that's more jaws friendly? Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks Scott
Hi, I use Putty maximized with the jaws cursor reading the output. Works well for me, though I have some sight and can do a bit of focusing on the text. How do I set that up? Maximized is pretty easy right just click on the max symbol but how do you make it read with out speak all set? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Andrew Hodgson" <andrew@hodgsonfamily.org> To: "Blind sysadmins list" <blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: Friday, August 14, 2009 10:35 AM Subject: Re: [Blind-sysadmins] Question about using JFW with putty Hi, I use Putty maximized with the jaws cursor reading the output. Oh I get what you're saying. Yeah I like the real time feedback but that doesn't work as well as secure CRT. I might just sprint the $100 or what ever it is. I'm just using a work provided laptop so I hate to spend the money. You might try openssh for Windows. That is what I use. I should give SecureCRT another try. I haven't used it for years and it didn't used to work as well with jaws as openssh. Well, I spent about an hour on trying to get secureCRT working but I never got it to work as well as openssh did right out of the box. Maybe if I spent more time on secureCRT I could get it to work as well or better than openssh. I was hoping to find something that I could use to do vi. Openssh doesn't work well for vi but it was better than SecureCRT. You know where vi works really well... Linux. Vi actually works pretty good with either speakup or orca. I have to set aside some time to put vmware workstation on my work PC. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Scott Granados" <scott@granados-llc.net> To: "Blind sysadmins list" <blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: Friday, August 14, 2009 1:06 PM Subject: Re: [Blind-sysadmins] Question about using JFW with putty

I had great luck with securecrt and VI actually. All the cursor keys worked and insert / delete was fine. Not sure what problems you experienced. Granted though, I spend much more time in network devices than servers so my experience / applications probably differ from yours. ----- Original Message ----- From: "John G. You'll get much better results from PuTTY if you change the sayNonHighlightedText to include the PuTTY window handle. Let me know if you need help with this. Darragh

Actually could you give me a procedure to do this, I've never set it up before. I'm only a moderate jfw user at best. Hi, I use Putty maximized with the jaws cursor reading the output. Works well for me, though I have some sight and can do a bit of focusing on the text.
