Applying for accomodation through Pearson Vue
Hello Folks I am going through the process of applying to complete the Security Plus creditation with CompTIA. However, I have been advised by the examination centre that I must first register with Pearson Vue. They have a process of providing accomodations for folks who need this. I am experiencing difficulty with this process. 1. They do not appear to have specific accommodation for blind persons. 2. The website doesn't allow me to complete the process of applying for an accommodation. 3. There's nobody to contact about this. Before I start digging deeper, has anyone out there had similar problems in the past with Pearson Vue, with regards to applying for accomodations. Regards, Paul The application must be made through their website.
Hi,Yes, I have had similar issues related to the Avay exam which is offered by Pearson. I contacted Avaya who sent me to Pearson, who then sent me back to Avaya. I simply gave up in frustration.Rajiv ----- Original Message ----- From: Paul O'Rahilly <paul.orahilly@gmail.com> To: Blind sysadmins list <blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: Tue, 03 Jan 2017 06:02:55 -0500 (EST) Subject: [Blind-sysadmins] Applying for accomodation through Pearson Vue Hello Folks I am going through the process of applying to complete the Security Plus creditation with CompTIA. I am preparing to take my CISSP exam through Pearson-Vue. I had to do some hunting but this is what I found. Their accomodations request system is a "crock". Working with their tech support was fruitless because they could not or would not tell me why emails sent to my address were not being sent by their system. I do have an accomodations number, it is 800 466 0450 also you will need to complete on of their accomodations request forms and your docotor will need to fill out a form to essentially veriffy what is needed. Once all the forms are filled out you have to wait until they are reviewed and then you will be able to schedule an exam. I am at form completed stage in the process. I haven't sent the forms back to pearson yet. My understanding is that you apply to Pearson Vue, Pearson Vue submits to Comp Tia, Comp Tia approves the request, Pearson Vue provides the accommodations. The available accommodations for Comp Tia exams are extended time and a human reader/scribe. The local testing center provides this person. For some other test programs the process is: you communicate with the provider, the provider approves you for accommodations and communicates that to Pearson Vue, Pearson Vue provides the accommodations. Allowed accommodations depend on the test program. The page with information on how different testing providers handle accommodations is here: http://www.pearsonvue.com/accommodations/select_program.asp This page has accommodations-related contact information for various testing centers, including Pearson Vue. https://cm.wgu.edu/t5/tkb/articleprintpage/tkb-id/student-services/article-i...
