Gmail users kicked off the list
Hi. Due to someone marking messages from this list as spam all the Gmail users have been kicked off. I've re-enabled delivery for all users now since I don't know who was marking the messages as spam. If you want to be removed from the list please speak to me and I can arrange it. Thanks. Andrew.

You may or may not know, but I figured I would offer up a thought on this. If you got the error from Gmail stating something like "due to complaints", it is quite a bit misleading. I have seen Google do this with all of my web hosting infrastructure just because of the formatting of email list traffic or the amount of connections made to their servers. I have spent more time than I care to recount dealing with and learning how to get mail delivered in a large enterprise environment.

Just received the following from the Mailman-Users list, I'm inclined to believe this since the issue only happened for this list and I'm dealing with another list with traffic but the originators of the messages aren't posting from Gmail addresses. All outbound email from these lists are going through Exchange Online Protection.

This is almost certainly due to a recent policy change at Gmail, where they are requiring "from alignment"[1] but only for Gmail authors.
That is, Gmail does not publish a p=reject policy, but the effect on Gmail recipients (only) is the same as if they did -- they all bounce every time a Gmail user posts.
Mark has a patch in process, search recent archives of this list for a pointer to it.
Instead of the patch, you can set the "munge from" option for all users instead of the option for p=reject domains only. Or you could ban Gmail addresses from posting. ;-)

[1] "From alignment" is the requirement in DMARC for p=reject or p=quarantine policies that there be a valid DKIM signature from the author's email domain (ie, the From address)

On all of our customers with Mailman lists, we do the "Munge From" option and have no issues. I think the number of mailman lists we are dong this on is well around 1000 plus. It is really frustrating that these big companies can do things out side an agreed standard. I digress!

We had this happen again this morning. From more info obtained from Microsoft support I have now enabled VERP on all messages so they get dealt with in a single SMTP transaction per user.
