The only reasons i use teamviewer is: * You can start NVDA by yourself without the user * To accept admin and UAC dialogs.

You can hear what the dialog says using teamviewer so you can accept or dismiss the dialog using that because NVDA Remote stops.

though i guess remote desktop also should work because it should also allows you to hear whats going on on the other pc.

I've tried it on the corporate network, and everything works as expected.

Just staying abit on the secure/admin dialogs. I noticed if UAC is enabled, I cannot dismiss the dialog by pressing alt y. I had to disable it to get an install going. I should note that I am not using team viewer for now. Simon, could you perhaps please provide an example in windows where NVDA might not read during the NVDARemote session? Also, are you saying that, if I were to use teamviewer, I would have no problem reading that UAC dialog? The registry entry for controlling whether NVDA starts at the logon screen is below: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Accessibility] "Configuration"="" Because I did not want NVDA starting, therefore, I've removed NVDA from within the configuration bit.

You can do that as well. though i have always a teamviewer session going on in the background as well because admin screens are not moved over using nvda remote. at least when you haven't installed the addon systemwide. another step you need to take when setting up new machines. though i have found out that it seems not always to work with that solution. So i kept using a teamviewer and nvda remote combo.

those are very good questions. forgot to answer them so no problem.

I had to create a quick batch script to execute a silent install. so basically its installing silently. though i had to talk to every user to stop their work so i can do that locally. i haven't found out how to pack nvda into a msi and roll it out with windows update or others. i am getting now old versions of nvda and a mixed version pool all over the 80 pcs we have here. it took me 1-2 weeks to get all that set up but it was worth it.

i didn't enable use current settings on the logon screen. i also disabled nvda completely so no nvda at the login screen and other admin dialogs and no nvda after login.

what i do is logging in to the pc using teamviewer or similar software then enabling nvda from the desktop. you need or find teamviewer still useful when admin screens stop nvda from talking to your nvda remote session.

After a silent install, on the desktop, target of the icon shows like:

Of course I could modify the icon to point to the config, but I can't imagine having to do this on many pc's within the company?

Any help regarding my issue would be much appreciated please.

The only reasons i use teamviewer is: * You can start NVDA by yourself without the user * To accept admin and UAC dialogs.

You can hear what the dialog says using teamviewer so you can accept or dismiss the dialog using that because NVDA Remote stops.

though i guess remote desktop also should work because it should also allows you to hear whats going on on the other pc.

I've tried it on the corporate network, and everything works as expected.

Just staying abit on the secure/admin dialogs. I noticed if UAC is enabled, I cannot dismiss the dialog by pressing alt y. I had to disable it to get an install going. I should note that I am not using team viewer for now. Simon, could you perhaps please provide an example in windows where NVDA might not read during the NVDARemote session? Also, are you saying that, if I were to use teamviewer, I would have no problem reading that UAC dialog? The registry entry for controlling whether NVDA starts at the logon screen is below: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Accessibility] "Configuration"="" Because I did not want NVDA starting, therefore, I've removed NVDA from within the configuration bit.

You can do that as well. though i have always a teamviewer session going on in the background as well because admin screens are not moved over using nvda remote. at least when you haven't installed the addon systemwide. another step you need to take when setting up new machines. though i have found out that it seems not always to work with that solution. So i kept using a teamviewer and nvda remote combo.

those are very good questions. forgot to answer them so no problem.

I had to create a quick batch script to execute a silent install. so basically its installing silently. though i had to talk to every user to stop their work so i can do that locally. i haven't found out how to pack nvda into a msi and roll it out with windows update or others. i am getting now old versions of nvda and a mixed version pool all over the 80 pcs we have here. it took me 1-2 weeks to get all that set up but it was worth it.

i didn't enable use current settings on the logon screen. i also disabled nvda completely so no nvda at the login screen and other admin dialogs and no nvda after login.

what i do is logging in to the pc using teamviewer or similar software then enabling nvda from the desktop. you need or find teamviewer still useful when admin screens stop nvda from talking to your nvda remote session.

I've setup the config and put it it on the server however,

My problem is that

If I install NVDA with switches like:

c:\nvda.exe --install-silent -m launchNVDA -r -c \\share\NVDA

After a silent install, on the desktop, target of the icon shows like:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\NVDA\nvda_slave.exe" launchNVDA -r

Of course I could modify the icon to point to the config, but I can't imagine having to do this on many pc's within the company?

Any help regarding my issue would be much appreciated please.

I have a few questions please, If you don't mind me asking, did you install NVDA silently on all the pc's? Secondly, on the computers NVDA was installed, did you select to: Use currently saved settings on the logon and other secure screens?

You can copy a good icon and drop it in every box. that what i had to do. i dropped it into c:\users\public\desktop and from there you can start it then.

Has anyone gotten NVDA to install silently using a custom config pointed elsewhere?

My question stems from some NVDARemote messages which I've followed from Simon sometime ago, Thanks Simon.

I've setup the config and put it it on the server however,

My problem is that

If I install NVDA with switches like:

c:\nvda.exe --install-silent -m launchNVDA -r -c \\share\NVDA

After a silent install, on the desktop, target of the icon shows like:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\NVDA\nvda_slave.exe" launchNVDA -r

Of course I could modify the icon to point to the config, but I can't imagine having to do this on many pc's within the company?

Any help regarding my issue would be much appreciated please.
