Can't connect to new installation of SQL Express
Hi folks, I'm back at this old chestnut. I've just installed SQL Express, but can't connect to the server. The Server is installed locally on my Win 7 box. When I launch SQL Management and am prompted for a server to connect to, I type ".\SQLEXPRESS" and get, "A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) (Microsoft SQL Server)" I need to connect to the server so I can change or enter a new password. Any thoughts? Cheers, Barry. Barry Toner ICT Assistant ICT Department Clanmil Housing Northern Whig House 3 Waring Street Belfast BT1 2DX Tel: 02890 876000 Fax: 02890 876001
Might be worth getting someone to connect in using Jaws tandem?
Just to check the config and / or reinstall.

Hi Greg, Good suggestion, I've just tried that. Nothing. It's not letting me connect if I select DB Engine or SQL Server.
