I wanted to let you all know that I've taken a new position with Microsoft. I'm working under Gianugo Rabellino, who is also on this list, on the Cloud and Enterprise (C&E) team. Together we'll be working on accessibility of a lot of the products blind Microsoft sysadmins use, so like Gianugo I encourage your feedback and a frank conversation about the needs of blind system administrators and other IT pros in the Microsoft world. Thanks. Ryan
Hey congratulations on the new gig. Also, as someone who is usually very critical of microsoft, lately I’ve noticed a real improvement on the accessibility commitment side including just learning about a twitter feed from microsoft accessibility. Way to go. Glad to see this and again congrats on your new job.

Scott: Thanks a lot, and you’re right Microsoft has made many improvements lately. However, there’s still a long way to go, especially in the Enterprise area, so I’m very hopeful we can bring some good change there. Ryan, Congratulations! Can I ask what you will be doing at Microsoft? Let me also just say that although it's shooting me in the foot slightly, SCCM and SCOM fit in perfectly with what my organization needs but they aren't using it. It would be remiss of me not to point our infrastructure in that direction but the current state of SCOM and SCCM in terms of accessibility is going to make my life very difficult. -----Original Message----- From: Blind-sysadmins [mailto:blind-sysadmins-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] On Behalf Of Ryan Shugart Sent: Friday 9 September 2016 06:42 To: Blind sysadmins list <blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Subject: Re: [Blind-sysadmins] new position Scott: Thanks a lot, and you’re right Microsoft has made many improvements lately. Ryan, congratulations. That's awesome. I also echo the need for SCCM accessibility. I attempted to use with lots of gotchas and things not reading properly and things not getting read etc. German -----Original Message----- From: Blind-sysadmins [mailto:blind-sysadmins-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] On Behalf Of Darragh Ó Héiligh Sent: Friday, September 09, 2016 4:20 AM To: Blind sysadmins list <blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Subject: Re: [Blind-sysadmins] new position Ryan, Congratulations! Ryan, are you moving out to Redmond or working out of that location? I’ve been thinking of heading to the seattle area as I’m in discussions with a certain large online retailer / cloud compute provider.:)

Hello Ryan Congratulations! As for accessibility I don't know what the scope of your work is going to be, regardless it is important that Microsoft take a holistic approach. Although we might live in an Active Directory environment and administer Exchange and file servers there is often a requirement to keep supporting systems and documentation up-to-date. I have found myself having to struggle through SharePoint and MS Project in order to feed the beast. And like many large organisations virtual environments are becoming the new trend. Everything goes full circle, we went from mainframe computing to distributed environments and now with virtual machines and MDMs on mobile devices everything is being pulled back into a central area. Best of luck and enjoy your new challenges and responsibilities. You make a great point. How great would it be if there was some accessible way to work with Visio?
