Hi, We also use BitLocker on laptops, and similarly, I just enter the pin as soon as I power up the machine. It would be nice to have a beep confirmation, but this has never given me trouble. I have had trouble sometimes knowing if the unit is powered on or not because there is no cdrom drive, and the fan is sometimes silent, and I don't think there is a battery you can take out. Thanks all, it's a shame that nothing has been developed to make this more usable in all these years. Are there any particular hints/tips you can give. i.e. when you get the pin wrong, do you have to press enter again to return to the edit field? or can you accidentally press tab and move out of the pin textfield? With my Bitlocker encrypted laptop I just know to enter in the password when the system starts, that usually happens very quickly and it is the first thing to pop up even before Windows starts to load.

The password doesn't expire either on my system so that is good.

Hello: For what its worth, we used Bitlocker where I used to work. Bitlocker can be configured so that the decryption key is stored in the machine’s TPM chip on the motherboard, and if this is the case and the chip is able to supply the proper key the machine will still boot. You’ll still need to log into Windows, but this will allow your screen reader to start and read the login prompt. This also complies with security requirements in that the TPM chip is not removable from the motherboard, and removing the hard drive and putting it in a different machine will not allow anyone to access any of the information as the keys are on this hardware chip that are in the original machine. I think this feature is available in any machine running Windows 8 or higher, I don’t know about Windows 7.
