terminal services
Hi, Appologies for the cross posting, I am a helpdesk analyst, using jaws version 10, supporting a number of users in an Airline. In my work, I am using many different applications. However, as a jaws user, there are some that are restricting me from offering the kind of support that I need to provide. We use an application called active directory, to unlock user accounts, and change passwords on a regular basis. My understanding is that, jaws is sitting on my c drive on my pc, and the application is sitting on a server. So, when I load up active directory, I get no speech from jaws. I will shortly be using an application called ConsoleOne, to change citrix passwords for users, and the same rules apply. Jaws is on my c drive, and the application is on the server. I have remote desktop for jaws, on my jaws licence. Do I need to have jaws loaded on each server that I am trying to access through terminal services? Or is it possible for me to do this at all. Appologies for the long mail, all help would be appreciated. Brian. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Find the home of your dreams with eircom net property Sign up for email alerts now http://www.eircom.net/propertyalerts
Hi, Just to say a big sorry for the delay on the messages. We had some weird perms issue on the server which took ages to fix once I had discovered it. Thanks. Brian,
I've a small program called user manager from sys internals I think... It
will connect to the domain and assuming you have the required permissions
of course it will enable you to change most user properties using a really
nifty interface that's fully accessible to Jaws users.
Failing that, download the admin pack as previously suggested and connect
to AD remotely. I hate remote desktop as jaws frequently seems to cause
keys to vertually stick in a manor of speaking so I try to stay away from
using it as much as I can.
As also previously mentioned, for any server you need to access, you will
need jaws installed. The easyist way to get started with this is to leave
it on a share that you can access from as many servers as possible then
run the set up from the run dialogue using the /type remote switch.
Hope that helps.
