Dear all, At work I'll soon have to work in a nested RDP session, meaning that I'll connect to a first RDP server from my laptop and then connect from there via RDP to a second PC, to which the development board I need to access is connected. I have simulated such setup and my main accessibility related worry turned out to be irrelevant, as NVDA's RDAccess works flawlessly in that configuration, with both speech and Braille. I am, however, unable to leave the second session, without leaving the entire RDP. The CTRL++ALT+pause and CTRL+ALT+HOME move me to my main desktop / to the connection bar of the first connection, even when performed in the second session. The tips from the Internet about using CTRL+SHIFG+ALT+HOME don't work;. I have also found some articles about scripting these shortcuts with AutoHotKey, however it seems folks have very limited luck with this approach. How are you handling this situation? Is there a method for switching away from the nested session I overlooked? -- Many thanks Lukasz

Hi. Yeah I never really got round this one. I tended to end up exiting the whole session then building it back up again. I only needed the nested session a couple of times a week so it wasn't a biggy. How are you dealing with NVDA in the remote session? Thanks. Andrew. -----Original Message----- From: Lukasz Golonka via Blind-sysadmins <blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: 29 April 2025 20:05 To: Blind sysadmins list <blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Cc: Lukasz Golonka <lukasz.golonka@mailbox.org> Subject: [Blind-sysadmins] Keyboard shortcuts in nested RDP sessions Dear all, At work I'll soon have to work in a nested RDP session, meaning that I'll connect to a first RDP server from my laptop and then connect from there via RDP to a second PC, to which the development board I need to access is connected. Greetings Andrew and Lukasz, I too would be very interested to know if there is a way to do this. I manage over 200+ servers and almost 2000 workstations in our environment. Fortunately, I don't have to hop sessions that often. That being said, from a security perspective, I would prefer to do this down the road. Kindest Regards, Billy L. Hi, Exiting the nested session will work, but I'll have to see how tedious that approach will be in practice. As to using NVDA in the remote session I just install the RDAccess add-on https://github.com/LeonarddeR/rdAccess on the local machine and all remote machines I need to connect to. It works out of the box. I'm honestly surprised the nested remote access scenarios are not supported better by screen readers - this appears to be a quite common workflow in more secure environments. -- Regards Lukasz On Tue, 29 Apr 2025 20:50:37 +0000 Andrew Hodgson via Blind-sysadmins <blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> wrote:

Hello, Aside from the troubles I described in my first message with leaving the session, it just works out of the box. When the add-on is installed it is by default set to work in both client and server modes. So it is a server in the outer session and the same instance works as a client for the inner one. My understanding about JFW in the nested RDP scenario is that it has to be activated with the remote access license on the jump server to be able to work in the secondary session. As I have a Dongle license I was never able to try this. -- Regards Lukasz On Wed, 30 Apr 2025 21:10:22 +0000 Andrew Hodgson via Blind-sysadmins <blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> wrote:

Hi. Yep that is what I thought. I had activation issues on the middle server to be honest. I may try that out in a lab at some point. Thanks.
