Dear users and developers, Here are my idea how to create functional remastered Linux distribution to make it work with AVG antivirus solution. It will be PCLINUX OS 2009.1 ZEN Mini Gnome with Orca included and command line oriented AVG. New PC Linux is using Pulseaudio and i do not like it because of it. I will try to add newest kernel to The old 2009.1 release, but it will may be cause issues. But new kernel is including many network device drivers, but new kernels are having issues with 3D instructions so some ATI graphics carts are not supported. How to work? Download remastered PCLINUX OS image with Orca and with bug, which will not allow You to install it by using this direct link. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15279728/pclinuxos2009.iso Run this live CD. Included remastering script is allowing You to remaster this distro even from running live mode, by specifiing The partition to some harddrive or USB stick, this is The onlyone Linux distribution, which can enable users to remaster it from running live CD system. Try to do it with Ubuntu or Debian Squeeze, You will not have A chance to make successfull remaster. Download The .rpm file with AVG for Linux by using this link. http://aa-download.avg.com/filedir/inst/avg2012flx-r1786-a4748.i386.rpm Install The release from live CD by using rpm command. Try to install The .rpm image Try to run it and if You will not get error messages, make The remaster of this distribution for Yourself. And use it only for non commercial, private use, and rather not upload this remaster to The servers until You will read The licensing conditions from Grisoft company. -- Mgr. Janusz Chmiel
Yes dear users, I have tested Tux2live, a set of special Basch scripts, which are really able to create a functioning Linux remaster from many Linux distributions. Including Debian based Distros, Debian, Ubuntu, and RPM based distros such as Fedora or PC Linux OS. This tool must be executed from The installed Linux distro, when distribution have been installed to A computer harddisk. The disadvantages of this tool 1. Remastered UbuntU remasters can not be installed by using Ubuntu installation program. The remaster is including The iso file inside The iso file, including some temporary files. So some advanced of us would repair this scripts to work normally. Debian Squeeze is being created successfully without those not good features in The resulted remaster. Because i Am seeing, that Linux is important for many of us, i will send You The link to access some remastered distros by using Tux2live, so You will have A chance to have Yours own opinion on those remastering scripts. Tux2live can be downloaded by using this link. http://freefr.dl.sourceforge.net/project/tux2live/Tux2live/Stable/tux2live-v... Scripts are not GUI based, read The usable options by using included help messages. The link, where You can get previously remastered Linux distributions by using Tux2live remastering tool is http://free.nchc.org.tw/tux2live/download/Packaged-cd/ I think, that may be, that while changing The tmp system variable and others system variables by using set, may be, that we would create remasters from running live system also with Debian based distributions. The problem is with mksquashfs command and with Squashfs kernel loops. Important is, that all variables, which have The potential to write to The file system in RAM must be redirected to some device with Linux or NTFS partition.
