using vm workstation 10 with jaws
Hi. I have asked this question in other forums without any responses. I am hoping someone can give me some pointers on how to use vm workstation 10 with jaws. I tried using it with and without the jaws scripts for work station 7. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Phil
Philip, What specific problems have you had with Workstation version 10? I've been using it since Monday when I upgraded from version 9 and I'm not encountering problems. I@m not using scripts either. -----Original Message----- From: Blind-sysadmins [mailto:blind-sysadmins-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] On Behalf Of Philip Hall Sent: 18 April 2014 19:17 To: 'blind system admins' Subject: [Blind-sysadmins] using vm workstation 10 with jaws Hi. Hi. Workstation 10 is new for me, I upgraded from VmPlayer 6. Here are a few of the problems: Once I start a guest, there is supposed to be a way to change or even review the devices attached to the guest. How do I find that list? There is also supposed to be a view where I can review the guests status. I can't seem to find that view either. Where is a list of the current virtual machines? In VmPlayer, it is a nice list I can arrow through. Once I locate one I want to run, I just tab to the play button. I would very much appreciate any help or pointers you can pass along. Phil, I must refer you to the manual. It's where your going to get answers to all of your questions. This isn't an issue of accessibility, it's an issue of learning a new application or a new version. For example: here are a few of the things that I've learned. 1. Control b when you are focused on a VM will power it up. 2. Control G sets focus to that VM so you can work in it. 3. Control alt restores you to the host operating system. 4. When in the VM, press control alt and enter to get full screen. This makes it easier to use the jaws cursor or your preferred screen readers mouse mode to read the top menu bar. Now, to get to some of the menus, 1. Start your VM using contro,l b. 2. Press control g to set focus to it. 3. PResss control alt enter to make it ful screen. 4. Press control and alt to return to the host. Use alt v to bring up the view menu. Arrow left and right for example thorugh the various menus or use the up and down arrows to move through the view menu. I generally use exclusive mode when I'm working in a VM for a long time. That way, anything I plug in will be connected directly to the guest so I don't have to explicitly tell VMWare workstation to connect the device. I hope this helps but I must again say, as nicely as possible, this is a situation where RTFM comes into play. -----Original Message----- From: Blind-sysadmins [mailto:blind-sysadmins-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] On Behalf Of Philip Hall Sent: 19 April 2014 11:50 To: 'Blind sysadmins list' Subject: Re: [Blind-sysadmins] using vm workstation 10 with jaws Hi.
