Hello system administrators, I have two super micro servers with no soundcards in them as of yet. I am using a USB soundcard for the moment on the one I am using regularly. what sound card do people use with their servers that is a reliable driver signed card that will not break the bank? any help would be appreciated. Thank you very kindly, /David
Hi, I usually go with a C-media USB soundcard, they work without drivers most of the time on Windows Server 2003 (not sure about Windows Server 2008), and you need a USB soundcard if you are using many servers, plus in most there aren't a lot of expansion slots, you need those for SCSI cards etc. Thanks. Andrew. -----Original Message----- From: blind-sysadmins-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org [mailto:blind-sysadmins-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] On Behalf Of David Edick Sent: 23 March 2009 23:05 To: blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org Subject: [Blind-sysadmins] recommended soundcards for use on a server Hello system administrators, I have two super micro servers with no soundcards in them as of yet. Hi Andrew Just out of interest where did you purchase your c-media USB device from and how much was it? Amazon sell a device made by Terratec for £16.99 which seems pretty good value for occasional use. I don't have any reason for needing one at the moment. I am just curious to try one out. Cheers Darren. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Andrew Hodgson" <andrew@hodgsonfamily.org> To: "Blind sysadmins list" <blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: Tuesday, March 24, 2009 12:14 AM Subject: Re: [Blind-sysadmins] recommended soundcards for use on a server

Greetings, I've developed an extension for the intranet here that is DB driven. IIS however seems to be causing some strangeness. With any line of code, the command is run twice. For example, a database insert statement will be run twice. A mail send function would also be run twice. I've never seen this happen before. it's not a coding problem as I've tested it on another IIS server. Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Thanks Darragh Ó Héiligh IT administrator Offices of the Houses of the Oireachtas, Fredrick Building, South Fredrick Street, Dublin2 Telephone: +353 (1) 618 4444 Email: darragh.oheiligh@oireachtas.ie Internet: http://www.oireachtas.ie
