Good afternoon, I'm connecting to a client site at the moment and they use Citrix. I've got access to their web portal and I've selected the server... or what I thought was the server. Once this worked, I am presented with a really strange dialogue. The window title is remote desktop remote 256 bit ssl / tls. I'm aware thanks to some messing around with OCR on my phone that I'm presented with a list of servers but no screen reader will interact with this. I'm slightly stumped. I have to get access to the server that needs to be worked on but I cannot under any sercomstnaces choose the wrong server. Have any of you experience with using Citrix? Is it normal that screen readers just won't interact with this dialogue?
Darragh: Sounds like this might be a Javabased dialog the screen reader can't see, either that or you're already interacting with a program on a remote server. Not entirely sure since I don't use Citrix like that, but my guess would be Java or some sort. Unfortunately, if that's the case, you're SOL as we say. Your best approach might be to install the Citrix Online Plugin on your desktop, their new name for Program Neighborhood, and get in that way. That's what I do and it works. Unfortunately, if that's not an option, you really don't have one. You need to authenticate to a server in the farm. The catch is using text to speech software you need to have it installed on the server as well. Both Window-Eyes and JAWS have a virtual speech synthesizer that runs on the server as well.
