Hi, I am helping my wife set up her tech at work. They bought her a copy of openbook and want her to use a network scanner. However I see openbook doesn't let you use a network scanner. Does anyone no of any work arounds or any other programs that will let you do this. Thanks Mike
Hi, If the scanner has a Twain/WIA driver it should work. That is how I scan in documents myself at home as we have a larger scanner. Hi, Thanks for that. This might be easier to do on a home network than it is on a corporate one. At home I have an Epson Work Force all-in-one that is on my home network. There is no problem with accessing it from any computer on the network. The software doesn't seem to care, because Windows 7 and 8 appear to be managing those connections. Hi, If it doesn't use Twain or WIA you are not going to get it working. If the user needs to approach the scanner, then scan in the file and receive it as a PDF, you could scan it in that way. That is the way the scanner at work is set up, but it all depends on the details of the scanner and the implementation. Hi, Is their an other program besides openbook that would do this? I am just trying to think outside the box. I haven't kept up on scanning programs. Most off-the-shelf scanners have a scan to searchable PDF option. The difference is that you need to scan everything before reading it. They don't read on the fly like OpenBook. This is often a show stopper for many people.
