I thought I'd upgrade from 11.6 to the new .7 release. Hi. Yeah if the device is working ok then don't worry about it, it just means its using a generic open source version of the driver/firmware. If you want to fix this properly a good answer is here: https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/682990/linux-upgrade-debian-possibl... This will happen on Debian because the manufacturers mainly ship out binaries instead of the sourcecode for these drivers/firmware packages and Debian don't allow distribution of these closed source binaries, but give people a way to add it if they want. Some Googling indicates it could be a video card. Since I don't use or care much about it, is it something about which I should continue to have a concern? My educated guess is no. Your thoughts?

I've noticed some warnings even when my hardware was fully supported and working. Installing a non-free firmware package may resolve the warnings. Debian changed its firmware policy recently via a General Resolution to be more accommodating of non-free firmware, but I can't remember when it was supposed to be implemented.
