Hi all, This is more of an administrative question rather than an accessibility question. Have you found benefits in using the Windows server Essentials Experience role? If so, what were they? Did the environment make it easier for employees in smaller organizations? Have you ever deployed it with multiple other servers in the environment, especially multiple domain controllers? Have you discovered if it has benefits even for the knowledgeable It person? Thanks.

I don't think its anything a large company would use or even a company with a dedicated IT person, but a small shop or even home user, yes. As a former Windows Home Server user, the little backup applet this installs on all the clients and forces nightly backups can be worth its weight in gold. The thing to remember if you install this role, you've turned your server into an appliance. Use the little dashboard for everything, for all intents and purposes consider the normal administrative tools read-only going forward. So long as you live by that rule you'll be fine. Hmm interesting. The test machine I used wasn't a domain member, so it just automatically made it self the DC of a new domain. If I had installed the role on a server in an existing domain, I'm guessing it would have gone ahead and used the existing configuration? I ended up not opting for WSE simply because it doesn't do too well with multiple Active Directory sites, and that's what my environment is; one in Orlando, one in Wilmington, Massachusetts. Not to mention the need for a site-to-site VPN through Forefront TMG 2010 simply to get around Comcast's horrible port blocking issues. I ended up not opting for WSE simply because it doesn't do too well with multiple Active Directory sites, and that's what my environment is; one in Orlando, one in Wilmington, Massachusetts. Not to mention the need for a site-to-site VPN through Forefront TMG 2010 simply to get around Comcast's horrible port blocking issues.
