vmware for Windows & ubuntu
I'm trying to create a ubuntu virtual machine with vmware 6.5 for Windows. I have to use 6.5 because that's what my license is for. My problem is that when I boot the virtual machine with a ubuntu live CD, I don't get sound. The google tells me that the problem is that ubuntu uses alsa and vmware expects oss. Is there a solution to this problem or will I have to get sighted assistance to install ubuntu?
I tried an older version of Ubuntu, I used this site called Easyvmx to create an empty VM and run it in VMWare Player, and it likes to lock up a lot. Other Linux distros I've tried give me sound, but it's all noise. It seems that sound in VMWare is a mixed bag, sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. ----- Original Message ----- From: "John G. I've used vmware for linux and never had any problems with sound. Its just vmware for Windows that I'm having trouble with. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Brent Harding" <bharding@doorpi.net> To: "Blind sysadmins list" <blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: Tuesday, April 06, 2010 1:15 PM Subject: Re: [Blind-sysadmins] vmware for Windows & ubuntu
