Harddrive backup software
Hi all on this list, Hopefully someone on this list can help me with this and I think this is the right place to ask. As my harddrive backup program, I have been using a program called Image for DOS and it's also available for Linux and Windows. Since I am experimenting with different operating systems and especially Windows 8, I have noticed that one cannot just restore the previous OS from an image using Image for Dos. So my question is, does anyone know of an accessible program that can backup the boot partition so that it can be restored later on and one do not need to use the Windows 7 DVD and ask for sighted help when this happens? Many thanks, Christian
I usually write a second partition with windows and use imagex.exe to apply the image. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Christian" <christian08@runbox.com> To: <blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: Thursday, July 11, 2013 2:26 PM Subject: [Blind-sysadmins] Harddrive backup software

I don't understand your question/problem. I have used image for dos to restore linux, windows 7, windows xp, and windows 8 partitions along with appropriate boot partitions. You just need to select the correct options under settings. Hi, What option are you refering to? I have had some dificulty using the settings screen with my DOS screen reader, Gateway so maybe I am missing something here. I am thinking about trying the Linux version instead for that matter with Speakup using my external synthesizer Apollo since I know that I am missing some settings. What I want is to, without having to make a backup of the entire drive, backup the boot partition and be able to restore it later. I can backup/restore the system partition wihtout any problem. Do you understand what I mean? Many thanks, Christian On 2013-07-11 at 15:46 Philip Hall wrote:

Hi. When you made the backup or image, did you specify the entire drive, or just one of the partitions. If you use TBIView, does it show all the partitions including the system partition? The settings I am referring to are: Check the settings that say Use New Windows MBR And Automatic boot partition update Phil -----Original Message----- From: Blind-sysadmins [mailto:blind-sysadmins-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] On Behalf Of Christian Sent: Thursday, July 11, 2013 5:25 PM To: blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org; blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org Subject: Re: [Blind-sysadmins] Harddrive backup software Hi all, I am sorry, but I mean the system partition, NOT the boot partition where the operating system is stored.
