I bought 2 of them. They were $50 each time. I think I got mine from IRTI. But surprisingly, it was the same price every place I sought for it. The one I have does not have a battery; the static is the hinge thing. But forgive me if I'm stepping on the discussion. Recently, I decided to update my PTP1. Although the speech engine is greatly improved, Now, when going into "Record" or to set or remove a section, I'm getting these announcements that the unit is preparing for record, ETC. Is there a way to turn this off, as it did not used to exist? My key response is also slower. John

Hi: Recently, I decided to update one of my PTP1 units, only to discover that the key response after the update is much slower and it now tells me that is preparing to go into Record or Editing modes. What is up with that and does anyone know how or if that "feature" can be turned off? Thanks much, John
