Peter, I can understand why you'd be hesitant to try the Linio adapter with the PTP. I bought a second Plextalk Pocket in about September 2014, as first, the power unit supplied with my older one failed, in that when it was connected to AC, it did not charge the battery. (The battery percentage went down while connected with it.) So it was determined that a new power supply was necessary. While waiting for that to come, I tried out some other plugs and they did work (to a degree) to recharge the battery. But I had the misfortune to break the power socket of the PTP (in attempting to make it give me the connect/disconnect sound with the adaptor I was using at the time, which seemed to fit perfectly but didn't give me the sound. After that, the new power supply came, bbut I had decided in the interim between the break and it that the best thing was to get a new Plextalk Pocket altogether, given the difficulty of fixing broken AC sockets like these. So I now need to 'isolate' the problem I am now having, if possible. I'm charging up the battery that came with my old Plextalk, in the hope that, in the event of it reaching full charge, it may give me a proper percentage while I use it in my newer Plextalk. I've been told that if I styill hear the connect/disconnect sound, which I do (though not as often as I'd like to), that means that the socket is still getting power. And the PTP says, "AC adapter. No battery installed." Perhaps Shinano Kenshi (the makers of Plextalk) should follow the lead of many others, and have just the one USB socket for charging/connecting, providing a USB-to-AC adapter for charging on AC.

Hi Everyone My Plextalk Pocket will no longer charge using the AC adapter, so I use a USB charger instead. I have not tried a different AC adapter. I think the problem is with the Plextalk as the charger is still working. Pele West

Hi, Using PlexTalk Pocket 1. The messages in the subject line are what I get when I check the battery status. The machine appears to be working ok otherwise. I also hear the power-connect/disconnect sounds when it sees the supplied power unit. I have re-set the PlexTalk a few times, and still get the ‘no battery installed’ and ‘battery level 0%’ messages. Once or twice, since I noticed these messages today, I have got the ‘battery charge complete’ message. But I’m now back to the ‘no battery installed’. (It certainly is ‘installed’ physically. (Off AC, as previously indicated, it’s ‘battery level 0%.) What does this mean? Is it indicative of a failing power supply, a failing battery, or that the battery has just run low and needs to re-charge? (I’m listening to music and/or other radio programmes recorded on it, mostly on AC.)

I have had similar problems with both my PTP 1 machines, and one of them cuts out after a few minutes when it is being played on the mains. I too bought new batteries, but these didn't seem to help. I have got round this by forgetting about the power supply and I now charge always from the U S B and always use the unit on batteries. I have now purchased the Lineo, which is useful for if I want to do any mains recordings. Peter
