Hello Pele.
I do this all the time. Recording from hi-fi, television, or
anything else which takes my fancy.
I now use my PTP in preference to mini-disc, except in certain
circumstances.
Sometimes I record direct from my amplifier's headphone socket,
other times I take the signal from the tuner direct, or the
Freeview box direct.
I alter the bit-rate, depending on whether the programme is in
mono or stereo to start with, and I always use the manual record
level, monitoring it before the programme starts, making sure
that I am being given the indication that the signal strength is
either good or high, and I usually make sure that it is the
highest level it can be, whilst still saying the word good.
Because the recordings are in effect, analogue, they are not as
good as mini-disc, but for most programmes the results are very
acceptable.
