Wel, I use currently the BookSense xt for text files as it uses neo speech, and I plan to get the new BookPort desktop model wich uses acapela heather and riaan. That is much better. I do use vocalizer alot on the IPhone and I don't want to listen to much text files with it the way it is, and vocalizer is coming in jaws 14, wich is also a good place to use it, so at least for bookreaders they simply don't sound good enough. Wel, maybe that would be nice if they could improve that, but vocalizer and realspeak both sucks, so I rather use another player for my majority of text files.

I really don't know about the footprint of the two different families of voices, but obviously the better the quality of the voice, the more memory and power it takes so doubt if the higher quality voices could be put into the Plextalk although that would be great if it could be done.

If the footprint is indeed smaller than the realspeak voices, then they can perhaps fix some of the many pronounciation errors on the voices used with the Plextalk though.

Actually, Realspeak and Vocalizer seem to sound just the same if you are using the full version. I have the Vocalizer voices with my NVDA and if you run them Premium High or Premium Quality, they sound great. If you run them in Compact Quality, then they sound just like the current voices on the Plextalk.

Hi all
I read somewhere that Nuance has not been developing the Realspeak voices for quite a few years now and that they have been replaced by the vocalizer voices. Wonder if Plextalk will also now switch to the new voices? They seem to have a smaller footprint than the older realspeak voices.
