Hi Wendy, Download the file from http://www.plextalk.eu/en/top/support/ptr2/firmwareupgrades/
There is also a link on how to install using the USB connection to the PC. http://www.plextalk.eu/en/top/support/ptr2/firmwareupgrades/firmwareinstruct ion/#usb

Bob
My firmware seems to be 1.08. How do I upgrade?

Hi Wendy,
There could be a hardware issue, but the first thing to do is reset the unit, if that has not been done recently.
Remove the AC adapter. Turn the unit over and remove the battery cover. Remove the battery for 20-30 seconds. Replace the battery and cover. Turn the unit on. Attach the AC adaptor if desired.
This causes a "system reboot", much like a restart on a computer.
Confirm the firmware version. Latest is 1.15. . Press the Menu key once to access the Main Menu. . Use the Number 4 or 6 key to go to the "Control panel" option and select it by pressing the Enter key. . Use the Number 4 or 6 key to go to the "System properties" option and select it by pressing the Enter key. . The system version and serial number will be played repeatedly. . When you have noted the information that you require, press the Enter key to exit the menu system.
Your symptoms seem to be indicative of a system or processor failure, but some random issues may clear with a "cold boot" or upgrading to the latest firmware if downrev.

For some time now I have experienced odd things happening with my PTR2. It will suddenly shoot up the speed and tone to the highest levels, either while I am playing something or even while it is not playing. On some occasions it has been difficult for me to stop it continually saying tone 6 and getting things back to normal. I try shutting down, and a while later it will suddenly come to life again and start playing where I have left off. I have tried shutting down and turning the mains off, but it even has been known to boot up with the mains off. I have had it for a few years, and do enjoy not only playing disks but also recording from various sources. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Wendy
