Hi Naomi, Verify the version number by pressing the menu key, going to system settings and enter at system properties. Current US version is 6.01.03. It will not run the updater if the firmware is current. When you plug in the adapter, you should get tones. IF you don't, possibilities are hardware, charger, connector or the interconnect board in the Pocket. If you do, press the 5 key. It should announce that the charger is connected and the unit is charging. If you don't, check the charging method via USB again. Turn the unit off and connect to the PC. Leave for a couple hours and then disconnect and check battery level using the 5 key. You can also use a AC adapter like you use for a cell phone with a USB connector. If neither method charges the battery, possibilities are hardware issue, most likely nonrepairable, or a bad battery. Batteries are available from Plextalk in CA. I tried updating the firmware to the latest version which I thought was supposed to eleviate this problem, but my PTP won’t update even though it downloads the sample books that come with the update. Any suggestions for fixing this problem would be much appreciated.
