In the US, it's commonly referred to as a phono plug, or 1/8 stereo connector. In the UK and countries using metric, it's a 3.5mm connector. Nomenclature is "male plug" for the cable end to plug into the stereo connector "jack" on the Pocket. Used anywhere you want to connect speakers, such as from a TV to a sound bar or from a PC output to powered speakers. You generally have the left and right stereo channels plus a common ground, hence tip, ring, sleeve. Proprietary connectors like used on the Apple headsets use up to six segments for microphone and such and generally won't work in the Pocket. Most any store dealing with TV or PC communications should have them. They are as common as USB cables. -----Original Message----- From: Plextalk [mailto:plextalk-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] On Behalf Of Pamela Dominguez Sent: Friday, January 01, 2016 5:32 AM To: Plextalk User Discussion List Subject: Re: [Plextalk] Tip ring sleeve Yes, for a phone headset, like for a cellphone, they add another ring for the microphone. So, it has the stereo ring, and then the microphone ring. I was not confused until they started adding more than two signals. What do they do, add another ring? A jack is the female end. The plug goes into the jack. People somehow get that mixed up.
