Hi, When I plug in my USB cable to the port on my Plextalk Pocket it is only making a good connection intermittently. Most of the time I am getting a message saying ' No USB media'. I did try another able at my local computer repair shop but that didn't seem to work at all. Has anyone else experienced the same problem? I am left with the problem of: is it the cable or the port in the Pocket? Thanks, Steve
Hi Steve, If you're not at the latest version (US Eng is 6.01.03), upgrade. Version 6 upgrade provided a bug fix for USB connections. Hi Bob, my device has the serial number 5116 and I followed the instructions. When I put theSD card into the Plextalk pocket it said' no SD content, please select another title. I am sure that I did everything correctly: so where do I go from here please? Hi Steve, If the unit is saying "no content", then it is not seeing the upgrade folders. IF you have a card reader in your PC, or connect the Pocket via the USB cable, check the SD card. You should have two folders. One is SetVerUp, the upgrade software. The other is Audible, or Audible Excerpts, a sample collection we provide for learning basic navigation. If you have neither, then the software needs to extracted to the card. Make sure you extract the zip file to the SD card. The easiest way is to copy the zip file to the card. and then double click so it opens and should extract to the SD card. If you can do the right click with the mouse or the equivalent to get the drop down menu, select the zip file and right click. One of your selections should be "extract to...". If the file is on the SD card, choose "Extract to here". If in another location, navigate to the SD card and save. On boot, it should recognize the upgrade and prompt you to insert the AC adapter if you have not done so. Hi, in addition to what already have been said: Have you picked up the right update package for your unit? If your device is branded for Europe you can't install an American update. When I bought my first ptp1 on Ebay the owner was an American citizen, who lived in Germany - and of course the speech on the PTP1 was in English. I tried to install the German software package (like I did years ago on my PTR1) but that didn't work with the PTP1. So keep in mind you only can install the right software for the for the right device. Yours sincerely Arno
Thank you. I have successfully updated the firmware. Previously I had tried to use the English version but as the device originated in the USA I should have used the US update. Unfortunately, it has not resolved the original problem of a bad connection between the USB port and the USB Lead. Most of the time I am getting the message ' No USB media'. So is it the lead or port on the Pocket? If you use the USB port to charge the pocket the unit recognizes the change of the funkction. It switch from the read mode to the loading mode. Usually I restart the unit when I load the PTP1 by the USB port before I plug in the cable with the memory drive. And of course the PTP1 only recognizes drives formated with FAT32. Usually thump drives are formated as FAT32, but if you haven't only deleted larger drives, but instead have formated the drive by the Windows format routine, probably it did take ExFAT or NTFS to format the drive. May be the pocket will no longer accept drives with this unknown format. Am Samstag, 1. Oktober 2016 18:50 schrieb Steve Richards via Plextalk <plextalk@lists.hodgsonfamily.org>:

Hi, I never charge my Pocket through the PC only via a mains adapter. I am pretty sure that my problem is to do with a physical connection.
