Hi all, the ptp1 firmware is finally available. I will instal it shortly. It look quite nice. Just look like they stil don't support aac plus formats for web radio, but otherwise its nice. I also like it that now it support skippable elements for the daisy books who have them. -- Facebook: m.facebook.com/aidan.maher92 Skype: andries4451 Twitter: smarttalk7 Audioboo: www.audioboo.com/DjSpotlight

No, its for all firmware. Just go to plextalk.com and select the "Europe and Africa" link. You should be able to update without the battery. On 05/09/2013, André van Deventer <andredbsa@webafrica.org.za> wrote:

Hi all, the ptp1 firmware is finally available. I will instal it shortly. It look quite nice. Just look like they stil don't support aac plus formats for web radio, but otherwise its nice. I also like it that now it support skippable elements for the daisy books who have them.

Well I got home, plugged it in, and got the update installed. And I have to say that Samantha is wonderful to listen to compared to before the update was installed. Generally I put manuals and user guides on the iPhone or the iPad mini, but I might start using the Plextalk for review and reference of documents because of the much improved text to speech. I'll have to wait for the new battery for my Plextalk pocket which should arrive tomorrow.

Hi all, the ptp1 firmware is finally available. I will instal it shortly. It look quite nice. Just look like they stil don't support aac plus formats for web radio, but otherwise its nice. I also like it that now it support skippable elements for the daisy books who have them.

Yes, the new TTS voice is great! Too bad Tom is still the way he's always been, but hopefully that'll get fixed next upgrade or so. For now, am using Samantha. Roger
Yeah, I hope they eventually get to Tom as well, but I'm very happy with what I'm hearing from Samantha. And it's nice having the network settings separated out from system settings. All in all a very nice update. On Sep 6, 2013, at 10:21 AM, Roger Stewart <paganus@wi.rr.com> wrote: Yes, the new TTS voice is great! Hi, just I downloaded the ZIP file, put it on an SD card - but got an error message after turn on the device: "No content on the SD card". I tried it with the folder, tried it with both files in the root - but the device wouldn't update. Any suggestions? Arno
I have not updated to the latest version yet, but I have updated the firmware on my Plextalk a couple of times. You need to either extract the files from the ZIP file directly to the root directory of the SD card or extract the files from the ZIP download file to a new folder on your PC and then copy the files from that folder to the root directory of your SD card. As I wrote below, I tried both. I copied the complete folder entitled PlexVerUp in the root of the SD card as well as the PlexVerUp.bin and VerUp.dat in the root - but both with the same result: "No content on the SD card". I of course took a new, FAT32 formated, empty 8 GB card, but it wouldn't work as expected. Arno Am Donnerstag, 5. September 2013 20:52 schrieb Rob <rarmstr@mindspring.com>:

Hi all, The Pocket says no content on the SD-card if there is no playable content. A firmware update is not playable. If the PlexVerUp folder with his content is in the root of the SD-card, the firmware update will start (condition is to plug in the AC-adaptor) The upgrade will take about 6 minutes and will power on after updating, settings should be saved (like wi-fi data) Regards, Marc Van der Aa -----Original Message----- From: Plextalk [mailto:plextalk-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] On Behalf Of Arno Schuh Sent: donderdag 5 september 2013 21:48 To: Plextalk User Discussion List Subject: Re: [Plextalk] pocket firmware update available As I wrote below, I tried both. Hi Arno, All I needed to do was connect (or have connected) the Plextalk to the computer; then copy the Ver_up file/folder (from the .zip) to the clipboard, which took some time; then paste clipboard content into the root of the Plextalk's SD card. that done, I disconnected the PlexTalk from the computer, and the Plextalk then rebooted itself and upgraded. the destination sound pplayed for a few minutes, and when the upgrade was finished (and said so) the Plextalk rebooted itself. if you haven't done so already, delete your extra files and then try it again. If I tried downloading the .exe file format, I got "unsupported file ar chive type". I also needed to unblock the Information bar in Internet Explorer. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Arno Schuh" <arno.schuh@in-trier.de> To: "Plextalk User Discussion List" <plextalk@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: Thursday, September 05, 2013 8:47 PM Subject: Re: [Plextalk] pocket firmware update available

You need to either extract the files from the ZIP file directly to the root directory of the SD card or extract the files from the ZIP download file to a new folder on your PC and then copy the files from that folder to the root directory of your SD card. Hi,
just I downloaded the ZIP file, put it on an SD card - but got an error message after turn on the device: "No content on the SD card". I tried it with the folder, tried it with both files in the root - but the device wouldn't update.
Any suggestions?
