Yes you still need the activation file I think it ends in .sys. Hi normally there is a folder on the sd card called audible and then the authorisation file puts itself in there and you can download audible books to your computer and just copy and paste them to your plextic into the same audible folder. I have never bought them from amazon but then I guess downloading them from there straight onto your plextic would be the same. You then have a different folder called books for daisy content and a folder called music for mp3 albums. At least, that's the way I have always worked it. h.t.h. cliff
cliff ok upon further investigation: 1. i create an audible folder 2. i sign in to audible now using my amazon.co.uk sign in after linking the accounts 3. my AAX file downloads as previously demonstrated 4. i copy this file in to the audible folder 5. when i reboot the plextalk ptp1 no files are on the SD card; i thought the audible book would be present and i would be prompted to activate it so something has gone wrong somewhere and doubt the audible team can help as this is a blind specific device i am now trying to use before i did this merger nothing was wrong and all would play On 1 Jun 2013, at 19:15, cliff williams <cliff@kwackers.com> wrote:

Hi Will I still think that you should call audible. It doesn't matter that it is a blind device. When you sign in to audible without amazon you get one file type and when you sign in using amazon you get a different type. All audible books are copyright and restricted to the account that buys them. Admitedly some allow you to write them to cd using itunes but even then you have to enter your username and password to write them. If your username and password was different before you joined amazon and when you activated your plextic, then it wouldnt play the amazon ones anyway to my knowledge so I would phone them, they are quite helpful usually. Here is the number that I have used in the past, unless it's changed. For customer service please call: 0800 08 25 100 or +44 (0)20 8747 2960 Mon: 10am to 6pm Tue: 10.30am to 6pm Wed: 10am to 8pm Thu: 10am to 6pm Fri: 10am to 6pm Sat: 10am to 2pm Sun: CLOSED Let me know how you get on, I am sure it's something silly. Actually, there is one other thing, they have brought out new files that give better quality and perhaps there is one that the plextic does not handle. If that is the case, having bought the book you can go into your library and download it again in a different format. all the best cliff

Yes if it's a pocket. I had a pt1 and that read audible and when that died they sent another one with network ability etc. which I don't like so much but it still reads audible. I am not sure about the desktop ones like the ptx I think it's called. cliff
Hi Will I just looked at my audible files again and they are .aa extension which listening to jaws sounds like .r so I told you wrong about that. I think the .aax is a higher quality but as I dont have any of those I have no idea if the plextic supports it or not. However, a phone call should find out or download it again in a lesser format. Certainly the .aa format is more than adequate sound wise. regards cliff
.aax are enhanced audible books. -----Original Message----- From: cliff williams Sent: Monday, June 03, 2013 3:41 AM To: Plextalk User Discussion List Subject: Re: [Plextalk] audible files Hi Will I just looked at my audible files again and they are .aa extension which listening to jaws sounds like .r so I told you wrong about that. Hi Will I phoned audible out of interest and asked the questions for you. The .aax file is the enhanced file and some players do not support it. I don't know about the plextic. According to audible, if you merged an audible account with an amazon account you shouldnt need to re-activate your plextic, however if they are two seperate accounts then you may need to but in that case the plextic should tell you that you are not authorised to play the file. In other words, as the plextic doesn't see the file I think it is not supported so all you have to do is log in again, go to your library and download it in format 4 which is the format I use and that does work on the plextic. It will not cost you anything if you have already bought the book. kindest regards cliff
Where do I go to change the download format? Many thanks for these initial enquiries. I am sure that the device to support the announced format, but I will download format for and give it a go Sent from my iPhone On 3 Jun 2013, at 12:03 PM, "cliff williams" <cliff@kwackers.com> wrote:

Hi Will you have to go to the audible site and log in. Then go to your library and scroll down the list until you find the book in question. It will probably say downloaded but there is an option to download and select the format you want. If you get stuck you can phone them and they will talk you through it. If it then works on format 4, next time you download a book set that as your default format and you will not have any more trouble. You can still change the format anytime you want but setting a default one means you dont have to remember every time. regards cliff
The Pocket does not support the extended formmate. That would seem to be Will's problem. ----- Original Message ----- From: "cliff williams" <cliff@kwackers.com> To: "Plextalk User Discussion List" <plextalk@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: Monday, June 03, 2013 6:03 AM Subject: Re: [Plextalk] audible files

From the Plextalk pocket faq: Q.7-1 How do I play Audible.com books on my Plextalk Pocket? When I copy the books and try to play them they are not readable. A.7-1 Go to www.audible.com . Select the help submenu at the bottom of the page. Select ‘compatible device list’ from upper left FAQ box. Select ‘other’, then ‘Plextalk’ as brand, then ‘Pocket’. Select the download software manager for your PC or Mac. Select ‘mp3' as the player. Download the software and run to install on your computer. After the system is rebooted, connect the Pocket via USB and run the Audible Manager softwarew. It should detect and identify the PTP1 in the lower section and show all the books in your library in the upper section. Drag and drop selected books to the lower section. They should transfer and will show up on the SD card in the ‘Audible’ folder.

Once you've authorized the Plextalk with Audible, it will place the .sys file where it wants it. No need to go mucking about with it. When you download books from Audible to the Pocket, a folder called "audio books" is created and the Audible books go in there automatically. At least that's how it works in the U.S. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Will" <will.d.lomas@gmail.com> To: "Plextalk User Discussion List" <plextalk@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: Saturday, June 01, 2013 9:54 AM Subject: Re: [Plextalk] audible files
