Hi all It does seem that we all have usb woes with our Plextalk pocket at some stage! Attempting to connect my pocket with a usb cable. I have so many of these cables that to be honest Im not sure whether the one I am now using is the right one. On this computer, the pocket can be charged with the usb cable that is no problem. But it does not recognise the pocket as a device. This means it draws power from the usb port i.e. it is connected but not recognised. Any help from anyone? Andre
I recommend trying different USB cables. I had a similar situation with a Garmin GPS device. I tried 3 different USB cables before I found one that worked. I expect there is probably a techie guru who can analyze the USB connector and build a USB cable to connect your Pocket. If you cannot find a USB cable that works, you can probably buy one from www.plextalk.com. André, Can you find the or a plug that will fit the electrical input socket? Plug in that way, and then wait for the charge to complete, and while still plugged in connect the Plextalk to USB. ----- Original Message ----- From: "André van Deventer" <andredbsa@webafrica.org.za> To: "'Plextalk User Discussion List'" <plextalk@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: Tuesday, September 10, 2013 5:57 PM Subject: Re: [Plextalk] usb woes Have done that. -----Original Message-----

Hi Andre, This is most likely related to the USB drives on the windows PC. It was also common in the beginning of launching Windows7 64bit. But when re-installing USB drivers, this problem was solved. The USB cable of the pocket is a standard mini-USB. Newest devices like mobile phones have these days a micro-USB cable, which is different. I have just the opposite behaviour. I was able in xp to connect ptp1 then just safely remove it and keep it physically connected, then it would restart and charch on the pc, now in windows7 it don't work any longer. I can only connect in disk drive moad. I guess also from what I heard the problem with pc not picking up the pocket as a drive have also to do with cables, if you have a 32bit system and you have done all of that, and it stil don't see it, I have to think the problem could have something to do with a cable, unless if you stil use the supplied cable. HiAndre, Have you tried turning the Pocket on before you connect the cable. It shouldn't make any difference but I've had situations where this seems to make things work that wern't working beforehand. It's also worth giving the computer plenty of time to recognise and load the drivers - again I've had situations where you hear the initial sound showing the the device has been seen but I've then not waited for all the subsequent popping sounds which go with the driver installation. Sometimes a reboot of the system is also required after installation of some drivers. Worth a try anyway. Hi! Problem is that I don't hear the initial sound at all. But I think something may be wrong with the Plextalk itself also. I bought a new battery for it. And then when the battery is at say 70% I power it off completely and not on standby. When I get to it after a day the battery is completely drained in spite of the fact that it was switched off completely! Very strange. -----Original Message----- From: Plextalk [mailto:plextalk-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] On Behalf Of Jamie Cuthbertson Sent: 11 September 2013 04:29 PM To: 'Plextalk User Discussion List' Subject: Re: [Plextalk] usb woes HiAndre, Have you tried turning the Pocket on before you connect the cable. Hi Andre, Not sure about the battery issue but I still think it's worth trying to plug in the USB cable after you've got the Pocket turned on properly (not on stand by). Maybe you've already tried this but, if not, it's worth a shot. Mark I've removed the battery now and left it out for a while. Let's see what happens now. Anthony always has a solution yes! -----Original Message----- From: Plextalk [mailto:plextalk-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] On Behalf Of Marc Van der Aa Sent: 12 September 2013 09:38 AM To: 'Plextalk User Discussion List' Subject: Re: [Plextalk] usb woes Hi Andre, If that is the case, please get the pocket checked by Sensory Solutions. They may offer you a solution. I bought a completely new battery because I thought the battery draining was a problem with the battery but now it seems that the Plextalk is the problem. Perhaps Mark from Belgium can comment on this one. -----Original Message----- From: Plextalk [mailto:plextalk-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] On Behalf Of Jamie Cuthbertson Sent: 11 September 2013 06:34 PM To: 'Plextalk User Discussion List' Subject: Re: [Plextalk] usb woes Hi Andre, Not sure about the battery issue but I still think it's worth trying to plug in the USB cable after you've got the Pocket turned on properly (not on stand by). Maybe you've already tried this but, if not, it's worth a shot. Hi Andre, I've seen this happen a few times, and what has fixed it for me was removing the battery from the Pocket, waiting a while, then replacing the battery and restarting. Let us know if that works for you. Best, Peter At 16:23 10/09/2013, you wrote:
